  • The xterm program is the standard terminal emulator for the X Window System.
# cd /usr/ports/x11/xterm
# make install clean

Edit ~/.Xdefaults:

XTerm*font: -*-terminus-medium-r-normal-*-14-*-*-*-*-*-iso10646-1
XTerm*boldFont: -*-terminus-medium-r-normal-*-14-*-*-*-*-*-iso10646-1
XTerm*cursorColor: #ffffff
XTerm*foreground: #00ec00
XTerm*background: #000000
XTerm*geometry: 132x50
xterm*visualBell: true

  • A clone of the terminal emulator rxvt modified to support Unicode
# cd /usr/ports/x11/rxvt-unicode
# make install clean

  • YeahConsole turns an xterm into a gamelike console. This means it will slide down from top of your screen if you hit a shortcut key.
# cd /usr/ports/x11/yeahconsole
# make install clean

Add to ~/.Xdefaults:

yeahconsole*consoleHeight: 20
yeahconsole*toggleKey: None+F12
yeahconsole*keyFull: None+F11
yeahconsole*aniDelay: 1
yeahconsole*stepSize: 20

Launch console in the background (yeahconsole &). Press F12 to open console, F11 to make it fullscreen (press while it is open). You will need to install xterm or change the terminal yeahconsole uses:

yeahconsole*term: mrxvt

There are a lot of other emulators, run psearch terminal emulator to see the list.

In configure of XTerm, which is the number 14? Is coding area iso10646-1? Can put the encoding UTF-8 instead of iso10646-1? As to enlarge the digits that are displayed in the XTM?
