Create keys as described here: OpenSSL certificates

Create combined key-certificate file:

# cd /etc/certs
# cp server.unencrypted.key server.key-cert.pem
# cat server.crt >> server.key-cert.pem
# chmod 600 server.key-cert.pem

Edit /usr/local/etc/courier-imap/pop3d-ssl:

TLS_CERTFILE=/etc/certs/server.key-cert.pem

Edit /usr/local/etc/courier-imap/imapd-ssl:

TLS_CERTFILE=/etc/certs/server.key-cert.pem

First stop the daemons:

# service courier-imap-pop3d stop
# service courier-imap-imapd stop

Then edit /etc/rc.conf:

#courier_imap_pop3d_enable="YES"
#courier_imap_imapd_enable="YES"
courier_imap_pop3d_ssl_enable="YES"
courier_imap_imapd_ssl_enable="YES"

Start the daemons:

# service courier-imap-pop3d-ssl start
# service courier-imap-imapd-ssl start
