Virtualization: VirtualBox

The best solution for both VNC and RDP remote desktops is net/remmina. But other clients exist as well. Here are some of them:

Install net/vnc without server components. Run vncviewer and connect to the VM (host ip). On Windows you can try TightVNC:

Adjusting window size

VNC window size is controlled on the server. Run (as user running the VM):

> VBoxManage controlvm win7 setvideomodehint 1680 1050 32

win7 is the name of running VM. 1680x1050 is the resolution.

Windows Remote Desktop

When you have installed and configured the guest you can activate Windows Terminal Services and connect using net/rdesktop or regular Windows remote desktop client (guest ip).

Or, if the VM is running in NAT mode, you have to create port forwarding rule first:

> VBoxManage modifyvm "VM name" --natpf1 "rdp,tcp,,3389,,3389"

This will open RDP port of the VM.
